Cotinga Tours Costa Rica Birding and Nature Expeditions Heather Frid Jimenez: Co-founder and tour director of Cotinga Tours, Heather Frid Jimenez, originally from Maryland, has lived in Costa Rica for over six years. She has worked as an elementary school teacher, dedicated to developing love and awareness of the natural environment in her students. She graduated from the Evergreen State College, where she studied sustainable community development, environmental science, Latin American Studies, and education. Her passion for Costa Rica's rich natural and cultural landscape inspired her to develop Cotinga Nature Tours. Heather's mother is Costa Rican and her father is North American. Her bi cultural, bilingual background brings an awareness to Cotinga Tours that fosters understanding and appreciation between Tourists and the Costa Rican people and environment. Heather also brings a wealth of organizational experience to her work with Cotinga Tours. She has organized and facilitated environmental education programs for sustainable practice within Costa Rica and in the U.S. Her most recent project was the organization of an EarthExpo at a local school in Heredia, Costa Rica, focusing on themes such as, conservation of wildlife habitats, ecologically sound waste-management, sustainable energy production and use, organic agriculture vs. conventional farming, to name a few. Her jovial personality, resourcefulness, and dedication brings a personal touch with a high standard of excellence to Cotinga Nature Tours.
