“Dear Paco, Alison and I want to thank you so much for the memorable time you gave us, aided magnificently by Carlos whose expert driving  even when he was searching the skies and trees was superb as was his warmth and concern for us all.

Thank you for opening our eyes to so much: the birds, the animals, the different flowers and trees. You were marvellously patient with our endless questions and repeated requests for information that we had asked you the day before. Your own enthusiasm for nature and your delight when you saw birds you had not seen in the area before or even seeing the familiar bird were infectious. I have not done any birding except on the coach since we got back. However I did see a red kite as we came through the cutting on the Chilterns and as I watched noted some house sparrows in a ploughed field some distance away. I put this down to our work in the forests when it was v.hard to make out birds in the undergrowth. You taught us patience in the pursuit of a bird and I am sure that I have become more able to see things, how ever small they are. Thank you for all you did for us; you went the extra mile for us all the time. The visit to Cope's was a marvellous time. To see a white-throated crake, a spectacled owl and then a sunbittern so closely was a fantastic finale to the trip. Cope's picture is off to the framer tomorrow: it was amazing to have seen the laughing falcon only the day before as the light was going, another exciting moment of a myriad of fantastic sightings. I could go on, but I am sure you will want to get on with preparing for tomorrow's trip and to recharge the batteries as well having time with your delightful family.
