Location: Costa Rica boasts one of the most bio-diverse locations in the world. There have been over 850 bird species recorded here. We have designed our itineraries to encompass as many different habitats as possible. On a an average 15 day tour with our master guide Paco Madrigal over 400 birds are recorded.
Guide: The guide is an integral part of a successful trip. So why is our master guide and co-founder, Paco Madrigal, so special? Paco has the academic knowledge and over 15 years experience guiding birding and natural history tours, but this is not what sets him apart. What sets him apart is his innate feel for the environment that can not be learned in the classroom. He has an understanding that can only come from growing up with a tropical rain forest for his backyard. His knowledge of the forest has been passed down for generations. He has an uncanny ability to spot birds and animals. He knows where they are going to be, but most importantly he has a passion and love for the natural world that is infectious. Traveling through the wilds of Costa Rica with Paco in search of a rare sighting is always joyous, inspiring as well as educational.
Personal Attention: We are a small owner run company. We only operate tours here in Costa Rica, a place we know well and love. This allows us to focus on making each trip the best it can be. We always try to give you that little bit extra on our tours. For instance, one night at each of our locations Paco will take you owling.
Food and Lodging: One of the things that sets us apart from other birding companies is our attention to detail. We have spent time carefully choosing our lodging. Lush, verdant surroundings as well as proximity to the reserves have been a key ingredient in choosing our lodging, along with, comfortable rooms, esthetically pleasing facilities, great service and scrumptious food.
